Framo Flatøy has already sent the main equipment to the yard in Singapore. Today, the pumps will the leave the production site at Flatøy.
The Johan Castberg (formerly Skrugard) field is operated by Equinor and situated approximately 100 kilometres north of the Snøhvit-field in the Barents Sea.
The field will be developed with an FPSO+ production vessel with additional subsea soluitions.
At sea level, the FPSO will be visible. Framo will provide 4 fire skids, 2 foam skids, 5 seawater lift pumps and 2 water injections pumps. The vessel's hull and living quarter are being build in Singapore, while Kværner Stord is responsible for constructing the topsides for the FPSO.
However, it is under water that the true size of the field is seen. Castberg is a large subsea field, and is key to the possible further development and infrastructure in the Barents Sea. The Johan Castberg field development project’s resource base consists of the three oil discoveries Skrugard, Havis and Drivis, located in PL 532.
The first oil is scheduled for 2022.
