Rise in debunkering activities

One of our more regular jobs these days is offloading bunkers. Recently, Framo specialist debunkered 1000 MT heavy fuel oil from a vessel.

Debunkering activities have risen as an increasing number of shipowners opt for low sulphur fuel oils as the main marine fuel choice to comply with the Global Sulphur Cap 2020.

“From our range of Framo portable pumps, we select the optimal pump solution for the customer needs”, says Bert Otten, Manager at Framo Middle East in Dubai.

Last month debunkering of 1000 MT heavy fuel oil (FHO) from vessel at Fujairah anchorage was handled by our specialist from our Framo Dubai office. This assignment was only one of many in the Middle East.

From providing Framo equipment to handle any pumping challenge from Norway, Rotterdam, Houston, Korea and Singapore, the company expanded its offering of rental solutions in Dubai in March last year.

“Having a broad range of equipment available at Dubai for fast deployment in any situation helps to keep the costs low for our customers in the region”, says Otten.

Framo pumps have the ability to pump any type of liquid cargo, so it is always possible to opt the right solution.

“When offloading heavy fuel oil/ low sulphur fuel oil and marine gas oil, we use our standard rental equipment: Framo Diesel Hydraulic Power pack, as well as the portable pump and we can also use our well proven screw pump for high viscous fuel oil.”
