Apprenticeship boom at Framo

Never before has Framo had more apprentices than now. Over 130 young talents are active at Flatøy, Fusa, Holsnøy, and Services – and the number of applicants for the autumn is at a record high!

Last year, Framo set a new record with over 130 apprentices distributed across our four production facilities. Fusa and Flatøy have the largest groups of apprentices, but both Holsnøy and Services have increased their intake and have been approved in several new fields. This shows that Framo is investing broadly in competence building and the development of young skilled workers.

When the application deadline expired on March 1st, we had received a total of 739 applications for apprenticeship positions for the coming autumn – an increase of 153 applicants from last year’s record. The final push in our digital campaigns delivered clear results, and we saw a noticeable increase in applications right at the end.

More apprentices

In 2025, Fusa had a total of 62 apprentices and has, in recent years, increased the intake of TAF students, as well as added more positions in CNC, industrial mechanics, and logistics. Flatøy now counts 52 apprentices after taking in more for CNC and automation, and introduced nutrition chef as a new field in 2024.

New foreman and new machines

At Holsnøy, a new CNC machine dedicated to training was invested in for 2025, and at Services, a training cell has been built and a dedicated foreman for apprentices has been hired. Services has received many strong applicants, and last year, for the first time, they took in apprentices in automation and industrial pipe fitting.

Guiding apprentices from start to finish

Throughout the entire apprenticeship period, Framo closely supports the apprentices – from their first day to the completion of their trade certificate. We offer both professional guidance and social gatherings that strengthen the sense of community and provide inspiration along the way.

Every autumn, all new apprentices gather for a joint kickoff at Florvåg, to build collaboration and a sense of community across disciplines and locations. In November, we honor those who have completed their apprenticeships with a formal trade certificate ceremony for the year’s new skilled workers from Fusa, Flatøy, Holsnøy, and Services – a celebration of milestones, growth, and true professional pride.
